Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Technical assurance of the continuous (end-to-end) technical coherence, overall compliance and performance of the solution throughout its entire lifecycle (from contract signature to operation);
- Identification of the right Centres of Competence (CoCs) and Enablers for the provision of technical solutions, knowledge or services contributing to the overall solution;
- Capturing and understanding customer requirements, programming requirements and applicable obligations;
In collaboration with the CoC(s):
- Derivation of the respective Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Product Breakdown Structure (PBS);
- Ensuring that the necessary links between PBS, Functional Breakdown Structure (FBS), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) are considered;
- Assignment of contractual requirements and cascading of the necessary detailed technical requirements, key decisions and milestones for the technical solutions delivered by the CoC(s).
- Definition, evaluation and decision of trade-offs, e.g. technical trade-offs, cost, value, manufacturing, service and risks, along the cost level together with the program and the CoC(s);
- Ensuring that the general requirements for product safety, security and reliability are considered;
- Conducting Technical Reviews along the entire product lifecycle and within individual technical solutions provided by the CoC(s);
- Management and achievement of product accreditation / certification, where necessary and appropriate, with the support of Enablers;
- Tailoring of processes, methods and tools at the appropriate level in collaboration with Quality Project Management;
- Ensuring that workload planning and the associated competence requirements align with the capabilities of the CoC(s);
- Reduction of Cost of Non-Quality with regard to major deviations and quality defects;
- Change management with regard to impact analyses, appropriate decisions and cascading to the CoC(s);
- Minimization of risks, utilization of opportunities, as well as management of risk impacts and their assignment to the CoC(s).
Minimum requirements
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or Master's degree in Engineering or a comparable qualification, plus several years of professional experience;
- Experience with Systems Engineering practices along the project lifecycle and associated methods and tools (standards, traceability, architecture framework, modeling, simulation);
- Practical application of both the V-model and Agile frameworks (certification is a plus);
- Technical background in satellite communication and information systems;
- Interest in new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the architecture of engineering services;
- Practical application of project management fundamentals while adhering to quality, time, and cost principles;
- Practical knowledge in the area of public procurement contracts;
- Good listening skills and a strong ability to analyze operational needs and requirements;
- Balanced ability to compromise while simultaneously advocating clear and controversial positions;
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural, and cross-site teams;
- Editorial skills and diplomatic skill in negotiations;
- Discretion, leadership qualities, team spirit, conscientiousness and organizational skills, diplomacy, and a good level of communication are required for this position;
- Fluent German and English skills.
