About the opportunity

Are you ready to shape your future with confidence?

Making the world a little better every day, together. At EY, we put everything into motion to achieve this goal and go "all in" as a team. After all, we have a clear objective in mind: to create sustainable value and growth – for our clients, our employees, and society as a whole. Our global network of around 400.000 employees worldwide offers you every opportunity to grow, develop, specialize, and pursue your professional strengths and interests. We believe that the right career path is as individual as you are.

Your responsibilities

As part of our international Digital Health Excellence Center, you will work with colleagues from various countries while being based at one of our German locations in Cologne, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt/Main, Hamburg, Munich, or Stuttgart. We implement both international projects and initiatives for German federal, state, and municipal administrations, designing modern, secure systems for millions of people.

The focus is on the digital transformation of the healthcare sector – from interoperable IT solutions to innovative digital health strategies. In this role, you will take on diverse tasks:

Design and development of scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for the ingestion, transformation, and processing of large and complex data volumes

Development and operation of orchestration workflows using Apache Airflow or Apache NiFi

Support in building AI/ML/LLM pipelines through the preparation, structuring, and optimization of data for model usage

Optimization of databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) with a focus on performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization

Ensuring data quality, data integrity, and reliability within production pipelines

Minimum requirements

Your skillset

At least 5 years of experience in data engineering and building modern data platforms, including the development of AI/ML pipelines, data preparation, feature engineering, and LLM integrations.

Solid knowledge of Python (especially pandas), SQL, ETL/ELT processes, workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow or NiFi), processing large data volumes, and in-depth database expertise in PostgreSQL or Oracle, including performance optimization.

Practical experience in data governance, data protection, and GDPR-compliant data processing, as well as ideally knowledge of relevant healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, OMOP, and openEHR.

Your mindset

Agile: You believe that a flexible mindset is just as important for success as knowledge and skills.

Curious: You are ambitious and committed. We are looking for people who think in terms of opportunities rather than challenges and who find better solutions by asking targeted questions.

Team-oriented: You value diverse perspectives and enjoy working in a team. We are looking for people who want to achieve something together with us and create a trusting work environment.

Your benefits

At EY, you will work in high-performing, interdisciplinary teams using innovative technologies. In a flexible and inclusive work environment, we support you in your various life situations. Inspiring colleagues as well as on- and off-the-job training and development opportunities will help you grow beyond your current limits and further develop the skills you will need in the future. A steep learning curve is guaranteed.
