Your Responsibilities
As part of our internationally oriented Digital Health Excellence Center, you will work with colleagues from various countries – while also being anchored at one of our German locations in Cologne, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt/Main, Hamburg, Munich, or Stuttgart. We realize both international projects and initiatives for German federal, state, and local administrations, thereby shaping modern, secure systems for millions of people.
The focus is on the digital transformation of the healthcare system – from interoperable IT solutions to innovative digital health strategies. You will take on a variety of tasks:
- Design and development of scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for ingesting, transforming, and processing large and complex datasets
- Development and operation of orchestration workflows with Apache Airflow or Apache NiFi
- Support in building AI/ML/LLM pipelines by preparing, structuring, and optimizing data for model utilization
- Optimization of databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) with a focus on performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Ensuring data quality, data integrity, and reliability within production pipelines
Minimum requirements
Your Skillset
- At least 5 years of experience in Data Engineering and building modern data platforms, including the development of AI/ML pipelines, data preparation, feature engineering, and LLM integrations.
- Profound knowledge of Python (especially pandas), SQL, ETL/ELT processes, workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow or NiFi), processing large datasets, and in-depth database expertise in PostgreSQL or Oracle, including performance optimization.
- Practical experience in Data Governance, data protection, and GDPR-compliant data processing, as well as ideally knowledge of relevant healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, OMOP, and openEHR.
