Your Responsibilities
As part of our Technology Strategy team, specialized in the financial services sector, in Munich, Frankfurt/Main, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Cologne, or Berlin, you will take responsibility for advising our clients on topics related to data and AI transformations. You will undertake a variety of tasks:
- Conceptualizing and implementing AI-ready Lakehouse architectures with Delta Lake and the Medallion Pattern, designing data models considering metadata and a semantic layer, introducing Data Mesh and data products, building reliable ingestion and transformation processes using e.g. Auto Loader and/or Delta Live Tables, as well as integrating data quality checks and SLAs.
- Developing end-to-end data pipelines on Databricks and similar solutions (preferably with experience in Azure), using PySpark and SQL for batch and streaming processing, as well as implementing DataOps practices including CI/CD, automated tests, and deployment strategies for scalable data platforms.
- Integration with upstream and downstream systems (e.g., Kafka/Confluent, Event Hubs, REST-APIs, ADLS/S3; BI tools like Power BI and Databricks SQL warehouses), as well as orchestration and setup of monitoring for workflows (e.g., Databricks workflows, Airflow, Azure Data Factory) and FinOps for cloud data platforms.
- Definition and configuration of Data Governance functionalities: catalogs, schemas, permissions, data lineage, auditing, access control at row and column level. Also, application of “Security, Privacy and Compliance by Design” (GDPR, BaFin regulations) and implementation of SSO/SCIM, Secret Scopes, network isolation/Private Link encryption.
- Collaboration with architects, analysts, and product owners, documentation of designs, exchange of best practices, mentoring junior engineers.
Additionally, contributing to proposals, accelerators, supporting the handover to operational use, and incident resolution.
Minimum requirements
Your Skillset
- Completed degree in (Business) Informatics, (Business) Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering, or another field of study with a technological-analytical background and more than three years of experience in Data Engineering on cloud platforms.
- Practical understanding of Data Governance and data security in regulated environments, as well as strong consulting, (software) engineering, and technology strategy competencies with a focus on implementing business objectives into scalable, future-proof solution architectures for modern data and cloud platforms.
- Very good communication skills in German (at least C1 level) and English.
