Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA, and is establishing its first data operations unit in Brazil.

We are building the database that brings our humanoid robots to life. The Data Operations team creates and curates the data that trains our AI systems, and the Data Creators organization is responsible for how this data is captured, in what volume, and with what quality standard across all our units.

As a Technical Coordinator, you are the owner of the unit's technical front: hardware, inventory, maintenance, and technical support on the operations floor. You receive, assemble, calibrate, and maintain all capture equipment, from sensor suits and headsets to cameras, rigs, and networking, and you build the inventory and maintenance systems that keep the unit running as it scales. When a station goes down, you are the first line of response; when a problem goes beyond your workbench, you are the bridge to the Figure hardware and engineering teams in California. You will also guide Data Creators on the correct use of equipment and capture techniques, protecting data quality at the source.

Schedule: The unit operates 24/7. This position primarily works the morning shift, with flexibility for earlier start times, later end times, or occasional weekend coverage when a critical hardware issue requires it.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Own the unit's technical front end-to-end: hardware, inventory, maintenance, and technical support on the operations floor.
  1. Receive, inventory, deploy, and maintain all capture equipment (sensor suits, headsets, cameras, rigs, batteries, charging, networking) and build the unit's inventory and asset control system.
  1. Assemble and calibrate capture stations, keep them within specifications, and apply firmware and software updates following guidance from headquarters (HQ).
  1. Perform first-line troubleshooting of hardware and capture issues during shifts, minimizing station downtime.
  1. Manage escalations to hardware and engineering teams in the US: document issues with logs, photos, and clear reproduction steps for asynchronous debugging, and manage the RMA cycle (return and exchange with the manufacturer) and spare parts, considering import lead times.
  1. Design and run the preventive maintenance program: maintenance schedules, equipment lifecycle records, and a spare parts strategy that keeps the unit operating between replacement cycles.
  1. Provide hands-on coaching and technical assistance to Data Creators: sensor positioning, putting on and taking off suits, and capture technique.
  1. Write and maintain the unit's technical SOPs (standard operating procedures), covering setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance, in partnership with Project and Shift Coordinators, and train Creators on equipment care.
  1. Help build the technical team as the unit scales, including onboarding and mentoring future field technicians.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. 2+ years of hands-on experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair of electronic or electromechanical equipment (field service, laboratory, audio and video/broadcast, medical equipment, industrial automation, IT hardware, or similar), with a proven track record of end-to-end responsibility for a technical process or system.
  1. Systematic troubleshooting: ability to isolate failures between hardware, cabling, firmware, and software layers.
  1. Familiarity with workbench tools and instruments: multimeter, connectors and cabling, firmware flashing, and basic networking.
  1. Strong documentation discipline: maintenance logs, inventory controls, and issue reports that others, including remote engineers, can use to take action.
  1. Didactic and patient profile, comfortable supporting non-technical operators on a busy operations floor.
  1. Professional level English (technical documentation and escalations with engineering in the US; most collaboration is written and asynchronous).
  1. Flexibility to occasionally support other shifts in a 24/7 operation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Technical education (SENAI, ETEC, or similar) or a degree in electronics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  1. Hands-on experience with VR/AR headsets, motion capture systems, robotics, or drones.
  1. Field service experience with imported or specialized equipment, including RMA processes with manufacturers abroad.
  1. Experience building or operating inventory systems, asset control, or maintenance management (CMMS).
  1. Soldering and rework skills, or experience with fabrication (3D printing, jigs, and fixtures).
  1. Experience in fast-growing startups.

COMPENSATION

  • Base salary: R$ 11.000 to R$ 18.000 per month
  • Benefits: transportation voucher, meal voucher, and health insurance
