Your Mission
As a Senior AI Engineer, you will develop intelligent and robust features based on Natural Language Processing and generative AI, contributing significantly to the further development of our data-driven applications.
You combine technical excellence with the ambition to take responsibility and actively share your knowledge within the team.
- You develop and are responsible for sophisticated AI-powered applications – from idea to production deployment
- You design and implement NLP workflows with libraries such as spaCy, Hugging Face Transformers, PydanticAI, LangGraph, LangChain, or scikit-learn
- You develop complex AI systems, especially agent-based architectures and autonomous workflows
- You work with modern techniques such as semantic search, clustering, retrieval augmented generation, and knowledge graphs
- You develop, evaluate, and optimize chatbots and agent systems based on specific business requirements
- You will integrate AI features into our Python backends (e.g., using FastAPI, socketio, and RabbitMQ) and ensure stability and quality through automated tests
- You actively contribute to architectural decisions and drive technical standards within the team
Furthermore, you will eventually take on a leadership role in the team:
- You actively shape the professional development of the AI team and gradually take on disciplinary responsibility
- After your onboarding, you will lead 2 direct reports and foster their professional and personal development
- You develop solutions in the AI field together with your team and set clear priorities for development
Your Profile
Must-Have
- Several years of experience in developing AI-powered applications with a focus on NLP and generative AI
- Very high proficiency in designing and implementing complex AI systems
- Experience in various projects and use cases (product development, prototyping, scaling)
- Solid experience in developing agent systems and agent-based workflows (e.g., with LangChain, LangGraph, PydanticAI, or comparable frameworks)
- Knowledge of techniques such as semantic search, clustering, retrieval augmented generation, and classic Machine Learning
- Experience in prompt engineering and evaluation of Large Language Models
- Very good knowledge of Python and in integrating AI features into productive Backend systems, including testing (unit, integration, E2E)
- Experience with relational, NoSQL, and vector databases (e.g., with Postgres, ElasticSearch) and ORM systems like SQLAlchemy
- Initial experience in technical leadership or mentoring developers with a clear aspiration to also take on disciplinary leadership responsibility
- Strong communication skills in German (min. C1) and professional command of English (min. B2)
- High degree of personal responsibility, strategic thinking, and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
Nice-to-Have
- Initial experience in disciplinary leadership or team building
- Experience with graph databases like Neo4 or comparable technologies
- Experience in training and fine-tuning models with PyTorch or similar frameworks
- Knowledge of MLOps, model deployment, and scalable AI systems
- Cloud deployments on platforms like AWS or Azure
- Interest in related topics such as Data Engineering or Platform Architecture
