Introduction
HTGF is one of the most active early-stage investors in Europe. To professionalize internal processes and drive innovation, we are systematically expanding our IT and data landscape. In our AI Product Unit, we develop AI agents and data platforms for the day-to-day life of venture capital – from deal flow to portfolio management. We are looking for a Junior AI Engineer (m/f/d) to join us as soon as possible at our Bonn, Berlin, or Munich locations on a permanent, full-time basis.
Responsibilities
What to expect
As a Junior AI Engineer (m/f/d), you will be part of an 8-person IT team, developing AI solutions that are used daily in the VC routine at HTGF – working in an agile manner with Linear and Notion.
- AI solution development: AI agents, automations, RAG systems, and LLM-based applications – agent pipelines with LangGraph, async Python with FastAPI and Pydantic
- Company-wide RAG pipelines: Implementing components of our RAG infrastructure with a focus on semantic search and response quality
- Data integration & connectivity: Pipelines, API connections, and MCP servers to connect internal data sources; retrieval via vector and graph databases
- LLM monitoring & evaluation: Writing evals for LLM and agent systems, analyzing traces in Langfuse, and systematically addressing errors
- Managing agentic workflows: Daily work with coding agents – specifically controlled via specifications, context management, and verifiers
- Business application development: Frontend s with React, TypeScript, and Tailwind, as well as support for deployment with Docker
- Initiative: Identifying potential for improvement in systems and processes, contributing your own solution proposals, and implementing them
What we are looking for

What sets you apart
- Completed degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a comparable IT education
- At least 1 year of practical experience in the design and development of agentic software (agents, tool calling, context engineering)
- Solid knowledge of Python; experience with async Python and JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus
- Professional use of AI coding tools in your daily development work
- Initial experience with LLM evaluation, vector, or graph databases is an advantage
- Independent, proactive working style – driving topics forward without waiting for instructions
- Quick learner, curious, and motivated to continue your professional development in the field of AI Engineering
- Interest in the VC and startup environment, as well as enjoyment in understanding technical requirements and asking the right follow-up questions
- Fluent German (C1/C2) and conversational English skills (B1/B2)
