WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU TO DO

High Performance Computing | Linux | Scheduling | Munich Area

Is High Performance Computing more than just Linux administration to you? Do you think in terms of clusters, workloads, latencies, and resources – not individual servers? Then this could be exactly the right environment for you.

For a leading international consulting and technology environment, we are looking for several experienced SENIOR HPC SPECIALISTS.

📍Munich Area.

We are looking for several Senior HPC Engineers / HPC Architects who not only operate complex cluster environments but also understand, optimize, and develop them further.

You will work in an environment where performance, stability, and scalability are business-critical – and where deep technical understanding is valued.

We are not looking for "pure Linux admins".

We are looking for people who understand how HPC workloads function – and who think holistically about scheduling, performance, and infrastructure.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Operation and further development of High Performance Computing clusters
  1. Linux System Engineering (RHEL / SLES / Ubuntu)
  1. HPC Job Scheduling & Resource Management
  1. Performance optimization of compute and storage workloads
  1. Support for architecture and transformation projects
  1. Automation of provisioning, configuration, and health checks (Python / Bash)
  1. Monitoring, Logging, and Observability (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk)
  1. Analysis of bottlenecks in network, storage, or scheduling

YOUR TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

  1. Several years of experience in Linux system engineering
  1. Experience in the HPC environment or with comparable high-performance setups
  1. Expertise in HPC Job Scheduling / Resource Management (e.g., Slurm, LSF, PBS Pro, or comparable).

You understand concepts like partitions, queues/QoS, fairshare, accounting, job arrays, and reservations.

The specific tool is less important than your understanding of scheduling logic and resource control.

  1. Knowledge of High-Throughput / Low-Latency Networking (e.g., InfiniBand, RDMA)
  1. Scripting with Python and Bash
  1. Location preferred: Munich Area (hybrid setup possible)
  1. Experience with Distributed/Parallel Filesystems (e.g., Lustre) is a plus
  1. German language skills desirable

WHY THIS ROLE IS EXCITING

  • Strategically relevant HPC environment with high visibility
  • Not purely an operations role – but real opportunities for shaping
  • Technically demanding infrastructure
  • Collaboration with highly experienced architects and specialists
  • Long-term perspective in a stable enterprise setup
