ALTEN
ITcares GmbH
IT Network Engineer (m/f/d) – Network & Security
Your Responsibilities
- You ensure that the network and firewall services of our medium-sized clients function stably, securely, and reliably. You are responsible for selected network and security services across our entire customer base.
- You maintain and develop existing network environments with routers, switches, WLAN components, VPN connections, and firewalls.
- You analyze disruptions and technical requirements, find sustainable solutions, and implement changes in a structured manner.
- You administer and optimize LANCOM network components and firewall solutions from various manufacturers in particular.
- You primarily work in ongoing managed service operations. Approximately 20 to 30 percent of your work involves projects, hardware upgrades, and technical advancements.
- You perform the majority of your tasks remotely. For installations, hardware replacements, or projects, you will occasionally be on-site at our clients' locations.
- You independently plan network changes and contribute your experience to initial architecture and solution concepts.
- You develop technical standards, documentation, and reusable configurations for reliable MSP operations.
- Within your first three months, you will largely take over the agreed-upon network and firewall services in daily operations independently.
Your Profile
What you need for this position:
- You have several years of practical experience in the network and security environment, ideally around five years with an IT service provider, system house, or managed service provider.
- You have independently managed client environments and responsibly implemented technical changes or projects.
- You are proficient in TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, routing, switching, and WLAN.
- You have practical experience with the administration and troubleshooting of firewall solutions. It is not crucial which manufacturer you have worked with previously.
- You work in a structured manner, document reliably, and approach technical problems with a solution-oriented mindset.
- You take responsibility for your services, focus on high quality, and collaborate reliably with clients and the team.
- You have German language skills at least at a B2 level and sufficient English reading comprehension for technical documentation.
- You possess a Class B driver's license and are willing to travel to clients for individual installations and projects.
- You are willing to develop your skills further and obtain relevant LANCOM or security certifications.
Whether you acquired your knowledge through vocational training, a university degree, or as a qualified career changer is secondary to us. What matters is what you can reliably implement in practice.
- Practical experience with LANCOM routers and LANCOM WLAN is advantageous. Knowledge of LANCOM firewalls, Zscaler, or comparable security solutions, as well as existing manufacturer certifications, are also welcome.
Why Us?
- With us, you work in a true managed service model and develop network and security services across various client environments.
- In our family-like team of around 20 employees, you can expect short decision-making paths, direct professional exchange, and real scope for initiative.
