About the opportunity

This position is a good fit if... For you, data isn't just zeros and ones, but the foundation for good decisions? You find joy in creating clean data structures from chaotic legacy systems? You think in pipelines, not in scripts? Error handling and retry logic are self-evident to you, not optional? You want to learn from experienced engineers while implementing your own ideas? Then you're in the right place with us!

Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, you will build the data pipelines that enable our digital transformation. You will be responsible for the clean, reliable, and scalable flow of data between hundreds of ERP systems and our modern data architecture.

  1. Data Pipeline Engineering: You will design and implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines that reliably extract, transform, and load data from several hundred ERP systems. You will use modern orchestration tools and ensure that everything runs smoothly, even with complex data flows. You will build pipelines that not only work but are also maintainable and scalable.
  1. Data Lake & Data Warehouse Architecture: You will build our Data Lake infrastructure on AWS from the ground up. You will structure data meaningfully, implement data governance concepts, and ensure that data is optimally prepared for analytics and business intelligence. You understand the difference between raw, staging, and curated data and implement corresponding architectures.
  1. Greenfield Project – Legacy System Integration: You will be right in the middle of an exciting greenfield project: the integration of several hundred legacy ERP systems. This is not a standard integration – it involves complex data structures, different formats, and the challenge of creating a consistent data model from heterogeneous sources.
  1. Workflow Orchestration & Reliability: You will implement resilient workflows for time-critical data processing. You will use modern orchestration patterns and ensure that pipelines continue to run or restart in a controlled manner, even in the event of errors. You will build monitoring and alerting so that problems are detected before they lead to real failures.
  1. Collaboration & Development: You will work closely with our Staff Engineer, the Product Owners, and the ~10-person dev team. You will learn from experienced colleagues while contributing your own ideas. You will grow with the challenges and continuously develop yourself.
  1. Data Quality & Documentation: You will implement data quality checks and ensure that bad data doesn't even enter our systems. You will document data flows and transformation logic so that others can understand what happens to the data.
