Our Engineering Community continues to grow – and we are looking for a Senior Data Architect (m/f/*) with a focus on Databricks to design modern data and AI platforms for leading companies in Germany.
In this role, you will be responsible for the architecture of scalable data platforms based on the Databricks Lakehouse Platform. You will work on challenging cloud, data, and AI initiatives, advise clients at a strategic level, and guide teams from architectural vision to productive implementation.
You will not only design technical solutions but also act as a trusted advisor, define architectural standards, and actively shape the further development of our Data Community.
WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE WITH US
- Architecture of modern data, analytics, and AI platforms based on the Databricks Lakehouse Platform
- Development of target architectures, reference architectures, and technical roadmaps
- Advising stakeholders and executives on architectural strategies, platform modernization, and data governance
- Design of scalable batch, streaming, and real-time data solutions
- Definition of standards for data quality, security, governance, and data modeling
- Technical leadership and mentoring of engineers and architects
- Support for client workshops, presales activities, and proposal phases
- Optimization of performance, scalability, and costs of modern data platforms
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Must-Have
- Several years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields
- Proven experience with Databricks in productive enterprise environments
- In-depth knowledge of Databricks Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Apache Spark
- Experience with at least one leading cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Experience with data modeling, data governance, and security concepts
- Very good communication skills and fluent German and English proficiency
- Applicants must be based in Germany.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Medallion Architecture, Data Mesh, or modern data platform strategies
- Databricks or cloud certifications
- Knowledge of Terraform, Airflow, or Databricks workflows
- Experience with AI, ML, or GenAI platforms
- Experience in the technical leadership of large programs or teams
