Where you can get involved
- As an IT Security Engineer, you ensure that our systems and data are reliably protected – hands-on, practical, and not just on paper.
- You evaluate suitable security tools, conduct proof-of-concepts, and implement the selected solutions yourself, so that good ideas become real protection mechanisms.
- You operate and further develop our security measures – from hardening and monitoring to detecting and handling incidents.
- You identify vulnerabilities, prioritize risks with a clear view, and pragmatically implement countermeasures before small cracks become major issues.
- You automate security and audit processes wherever it makes sense, making security smarter, faster, and more suitable for everyday use.
- You advise your colleagues, sharpen security awareness within the team, and support compliance and data protection requirements in the healthcare environment.
- This position can be performed 100% from home.
- Part-time employment is not an issue for us; ideally, at least 30 hours per week.
What you should bring
- You have a completed technical degree, a corresponding vocational training, or solid practical experience in the IT environment and bring at least 3 years of professional experience in IT security or in Linux system administration with a strong security focus.
- You have in-depth knowledge in the core areas of IT security: network and Linux system security, hardening, vulnerability and patch management, monitoring/SIEM, and endpoint security.
- Your technological home is Linux, especially Debian. You are absolutely proficient in using the operating system, have solid experience in evaluating, introducing, and operating security tools in Linux environments, and confidently automate processes, for example with Ansible or scripts in Bash/Python.
- You have a strong hands-on mentality and actively implement security rather than just writing concepts.
- To get a firm footing with us, you master German at least at the C1 level.
- Ideally, you have already worked with regulatory and data protection requirements in the healthcare environment; relevant security certifications are a plus.
- Your interest in AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) or ideally even initial experience with agentic AI like Codex, Claude Cowork, or Gemini Spark is welcome to be practically applied here.
