ALTEN MÉXICO is looking for an Automation and Commissioning Engineer, responsible for providing technical support during the installation, startup, optimization, and delivery of industrial machinery in accordance with customer acceptance protocols.
This role ensures the correct functioning of automation systems, contributing to continuous improvement, operational reliability, and troubleshooting of production equipment.
Job Profile
We are seeking a professional with experience in industrial automation, programming of PLCs, and the commissioning of manufacturing equipment. You will be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting faults, optimizing processes, and providing technical support to production, maintenance, and engineering teams, ensuring the availability and performance of automated systems.
Responsibilities
- Support commissioning activities for industrial machinery, including installation, startup, validation, and equipment delivery according to acceptance protocols.
- Analyze process and equipment failures, preparing technical reports with root cause, operating conditions, and proposed solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Create and analyze process trends, historical charts, and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Perform adjustments and optimization of control parameters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servos to improve performance and productivity.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in Ethernet/IP and Profinet industrial networks, including Point I/O and Armor Block devices.
- Implement improvements to increase the robustness of operating cycles and reduce cycle times.
- Provide technical support during engineering modifications and automation system upgrades.
- Duplicate, back up, and standardize control programs across similar equipment.
- Update electrical diagrams and technical documentation after field modifications.
- Keep simulators, automation programs, and programming standards up-to-date.
- Perform debugging and cleanup of PLC programs, removing obsolete or unused code.
- Translate and update HMI interfaces, alarms, and operational messages to ensure their correct understanding by end-users.
- Train and provide technical support to production and maintenance personnel regarding failures, corrective actions, and best operating practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electronics, Control and Automation, or a related field.
- Experience in programming and diagnostics of Allen-Bradley PLC (Studio 5000: Ladder, SFC, and Structured Text).
- Knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal V15.1 (Safety, S7, and WinCC).
- Experience with FactoryTalk View and HMI systems.
- Knowledge of Motion Control (Kinetix 5700 and Control Techniques).
- Experience with Ethernet/IP and Profinet communication protocols.
- Ability to interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams.
- Experience with variable frequency drives (Control Techniques, Lenze, PowerFlex, Connected Components Workbench).
- Knowledge of industrial hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Intermediate technical English for reading and writing technical documentation.
