MAIN ACTIVITIES
Manage, install, configure, and optimize IBM Db2 database software for z/OS in corporate mainframe environments. This professional works primarily on the database core, system parameters, subsystem performance, and software maintenance, rather than focusing on creating SQL queries for applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Management: install, update, and apply maintenance packages and PTFs (Program Temporary Fixes) on Db2 subsystems using SMP/E (System Modification Program/Extended).
- System Tuning and Optimization: configure and optimize system parameters via DSNZPARMs, in addition to administering Data Sharing groups.
- Environment Health and Stability: monitor subsystem performance, troubleshoot storage-related issues, and perform advanced dump analysis for diagnosis and resolution of failures.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: work together with application DBAs, storage teams, and operating system programmers, especially in Disaster Recovery (DR) processes and the implementation of High Availability (HA) solutions.
Requirements
Academic Background
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Data Processing Technology, or related fields; or
- Bachelor's degree in any field, plus a postgraduate degree with a minimum workload of 360 hours in an area related to Information Technology, such as:
- Information Technology;
- Computer Systems;
- Information Security and Auditing;
- Information Systems Development;
- Methods, Organization, and Quality in Computer Systems;
- or similar areas.
Professional Experience
- Desirable experience of 10 years in activities related to the role and the required technical knowledge.

- DB2 for z/OS;
- DB2 for z/OS Data Sharing Implementation;
- IBM DB2 Advanced Administration for z/OS;
- IBM DB2 Data Server Manager (DSM);
- IBM DB2 Concepts and Utilities;
- IBM DB2 SQL Performance and Tuning;
- SQL Analysis and Control;
- JCL;
- TSO;
- IBM DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS;
- IBM DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS;
- OMEGAMON XE for DB2 PE;
- Principles and fundamentals of IT Governance;
- Advanced technical English.
Expected Profile
Professional with solid experience in mainframe environments, especially in the administration and support of IBM Db2 for z/OS, with advanced knowledge in performance, Data Sharing, utilities, monitoring, and tools related to the IBM ecosystem.
